You Really ‘Autumn’ Know Why We Love Fall Best of All
It’s easy to fall head-over-paws in love with fall when you have four legs and a tail. No more hot paws, no more sweaty tails and woof-you-later bugs! Hey friends, it’s Bailey here - the best ol’ mascot Going Mutts has ever had - and I’m ready to let you hoomans know why fall can be the best season for us four-legged friends. Here are five reasons why us dogs are FALLing in love with October:
1. The temperature ‘falls’ just right. This, fur-iends, is no joke. The summer may have great weather to sunbathe in the grass, but us dogs have a hard time with the whole sweating thing. We pant to get rid of heat, it’s our way of helping to regulate our body temperature when it gets too hot out, so it takes a little more than usual to help get cool during the summer. But fall brings cooler temperatures, which helps us to not sweat our tails off and enjoy the sun without humidity or wondering if we’re going to burn our paws off on those summer walks.
2. The weather is un-be-LEAF-able. Seriously, there are leaves everywhere and there’s nothing like some wind in your fur as you chase those colorful leaves through the yard and right into a big ‘ol leaf pile. It’s like our own game of chase! There are so many scents, colors and textures when it comes to leaves that us four-legged friends can be kept busy just exploring. Those leaves always seem to be endless during the fall, so paws up to the trees for supplying my exercise!
3. No more buggin’ out for us. Although we wish this goodbye was a more permanent one than just a seasonal ‘peace out,’ we’ll take what we can get. The fall months have less blood sucking and biting insects, which helps make outside time less ruff for us.
4. Bone Appetit to those seasonal treats. Just like you enjoy going to that place everyday that gives you the white cup with the green logo on it, us dogs enjoy the seasonal change with treats. Your pumpkin flavored obsession paws-itively rubs off on us and we can’t wait for some pumpkin flavored snacks to hit our tongues. Homemade dog treats that are fall-themed will be a huge hit with us furry friends because that won’t upset our bellies as easily as those human treats y’all like to sneak us.
5. Longer snuggle sessions are paws-itively a must. No more hot and humid days calls for more snuggle time with our hoomans! Colder weather means you two-legged ones want to take a nap with us fluffy fur-iends and enjoy the extra warmth we provide with the snuggles. We definitely don’t mind the extra snuggles, just remember to give some extra belly rubs too!
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the warm weather, sunshine on my fur and being outside almost all day in the summer, but those cool temps hit the paws just right. Each season has their own paws and cons, but fall might be the most pup-tastic for us four-legged fur-iends!
With that temperature falling just right for us four-legged friends, it’s a great time to get us outside as much as possible before the really cold weather sets in and snuggle time takes over more. We love the smells, can’t get enough of the falling leaves AND our paws won’t get scorched; so more walks please!
